How Do You Prepare Taxes Print E-mail


Tax season is upon us and it is the time of year I dread most. I just do not understand how the tax gods can be so cruel. How on earth are we simple tax paying people supposed to understand tax laws when those who work to collect taxes do not seem to understand them either. How am I supposed to know how to prepare taxes for myself, if I can not get a straight answer.

Okay, I know that complaining is a part of life. We are never totally satisfied with the way our lives tend to go. Friends of mine think that I rant and rave too much about the things I can not appreciate. They always tell me to go with the flow, and not get into the technicalities that can confuse each of us. But, is it really complaining, if I simply can not grasp the reason taxes are so difficult?

Now, please do not get me wrong. I understand why we need to pay taxes, I just do not comprehend why we have to make the instructions so difficult to follow. There are tax lawyers who have gone to school so that they can fully fathom all that entails tax preparation. Even these men and women can have a hard time interpreting the tax laws.

See, this is where my disgust comes in. Why can the words not be simple? Why are the terms a jumble of huge expressions which seem to grab your brain and shake it into a martini of mush? Is it really that imperative to make the jargon so confusing that we must get the help of others?

All I want to know is this: is it that much to ask to make the instructions simple? Is it empowering to know that this crap really makes people's brains physically hurt? Why not work with the people to help them get the job done? Hey, we can follow instructions; just make them in our language.
